It's important to properly condition and train your body beforehand. Additionally make sure you have the gear and clothing to withstand zero temperatures. Among all equipment good quality shoes are absolutely essential.
Given the altitude of the region it's crucial to acclimatize before embarking on your journey. It's advisable to plan your visit during winter or post monsoon/pre monsoon seasons as they offer the weather conditions. However be cautious during periods as landslides can occur in this area.
The landscapes, around Naranag are incredibly beautiful so its recommended to bring along photography equipment and extra batteries for backup. Remember to travel light and ensure that your backpack does not exceed 10 kilograms.

Day 1 - Drive from Srinagar to Naranag

Start your journey, from Srinagar to Naranag, which serves as the starting point for this trek. Along the way you'll pass through the Ganderbal village and the enchanting Sindh valley.
Make sure to visit the monastery that dates back to the 9th century.
Once you reach Naranag village begin your trek towards Butcher. The trail is quite steep. Takes you through pine forests. Set up your camps, at Trunkhol. Relax for the day.

Day 2 - Trunkhol to Gangabal Lake via Bodpathri

Start your journey, from Lama Dugh today. Make your way to the campsite, Riyali Thach. Traverse a ridge situated below Khand Pari Tibba, which stands at an elevation of 4000 meters.
Once you reach this point you'll be rewarded with views of Manali, a town nestled on the bank of the Beas River as well as the entire Kullu valley. Set up your camps, at the Riyali Thach campsite. Take some rest for the night.

Day 3 - Exploration Day

Today is a day, for exploration! Take the opportunity to wander around Gangabal Lake or indulge in the activity of fishing, for trout.
For trekkers you can venture towards Kolsar Lake. Then return to Gangabal Lake for a stay.

Day 4 - Gangabal to Srinagar via Naranag

After you finish your breakfast go back, to Naranag. Enjoy the lakes one last time. Walk down through the forests and Bodpathri meadows until you reach Naranag village via Trunkhol and Butcher.
A vehicle will be provided to take you from Naranag to Srinagar.
